Pokemon-Style RPG

About this template

The Pokemon formula works because every system reinforces the next. Catch creatures in tall grass, build a party of six, and grind type matchups through a fire-beats-grass-beats-water-beats-fire triangle. Four moves per creature forces hard choices. Evolution through leveling, stones, or trading gives players milestones. Eight gyms plus an Elite Four gives the journey shape. A rival who picks the starter strong against yours keeps the pressure personal.

Summer Engine helps you build the full loop: encounter tables for each route, a type effectiveness chart, the 4-move battle system, evolution chains, gym leader teams, and Pokedex tracking. You design the creatures and the region. The AI builds the systems that make catching and training feel like the real thing.

Great Pokemon-style games layer depth under simplicity. A kid can win by over-leveling their starter. A veteran wins by reading type coverage, managing PP, teaching TMs, and breeding for stats. Build both paths and the game stays satisfying for hundreds of hours.
